Rotolo

2022

Experimental artist Piero Manzoni was renowned for his clay constructions that incorporated unorthodox materials like wool, fur and even bread rolls into a textural canvas. Taking inspiration from Manzoni’s graphic forms, Rotolo makes a monochromatic statement with a rich combination of contrasting wools and mouliné yarn.

Inspired by the Italian movement of the 1960s, Arte Povera is a meditation on voice—how ordinary materials become expressive through care, intention, and collaboration. Created with Merida Studio, the series reflects Sylvie Johnson’s belief that meaning is never fixed: each limited-edition piece is an evolving conversation between artist, material, and maker. Beauty is found not only in the final form, but in the act of making itself.

Arte Povera evolved a new visual language that was experiential, ever-changing, and alive to the senses. Each Atelier rug is an expression of living art, a one-of-a-kind textile woven by artisans and made to be touched.
