Like sharp but sloping dunes on the desert’s flat horizon, Steel melds and stacks pyramids of thick-felted wool and multi-felted merino against a ground of alpaca, mohair, linen, and wool, the desert’s blinding light translated into its white warp lines and shimmering wefts.
As elements clash, surfaces crack, and organic forms emerge, we reflect upon the subtle and grand gestures that nature creates. Through layered fibers that protrude and recede, we explore the history of where the land and art meet and seek to bridge the worlds outside and within.
