Evoking the spatial canvases of Lucio Fontana, which blurred the lines between painting and sculpture, Contra features a textural ground of alpaca merino wool plied with silk wool, highlighted with a combination of thin-felted wool, multi-felted merino, and cotton yarns.
Inspired by the Italian movement of the 1960s, Arte Povera is a meditation on voice—how ordinary materials become expressive through care, intention, and collaboration. Created with Merida Studio, the series reflects Sylvie Johnson’s belief that meaning is never fixed: each limited-edition piece is an evolving conversation between artist, material, and maker. Beauty is found not only in the final form, but in the act of making itself.
