Tokonoma

Design Miami/ | December 3 – 8, 2024

Merida Studio presents three rugs by Sylvie Johnson in the spirit of a contemporary tokonoma. Johnson envisioned an intimate, monochromatic shadowbox to emulate a meditative space dedicated to engaging art. The Zen-like alcove offers a moment for individuals to cultivate their ma – the essential void, pause, and space between actions while surrounded by the textile’s powerful silence.
